01 A Note from the Barn
Two centuries of timber, restored beam by beam.
It was the beams that decided it. They had stood through every harvest since the Napoleonic wars. We just had to give them a roof again.

Otto's Barn was a working grain barn in the middle of Offton village long before it was a home. By the time Andrew and Christian bought it, the oak frame had weathered nearly two and a half centuries and the roof had given in. Over five years they worked alongside local craftsmen to repair the original timbers, lay new clay-tiled roofs, raise a glass-and-steel statement staircase under the apex, and quietly weave in underfloor heating, thick modern insulation and warm plaster finishes. The result is a home that still feels like a barn — with a country pub directly opposite the drive and footpaths straight into Middle Wood — just one you'll want to stay in for a long time.
